The Homestay Program run under Coast Mountains School District 82 invites international students for a full year (10 months) or one semester (5 months).

School district's international student program, managed by Caledonia secondary school's vice principal Joe Domingues, has seen remarkable growth in its inaugural year, surpassing initial expectations and embracing a diverse cohort of students.

Dominguez said,"Starting with hopes for five students, we ended up welcoming 14 from Brazil, Chile, and Vietnam." Looking ahead to 2024-25, Dominguez anticipates enrolment to rise to approximately 25 students, representing a range of nationalities including Vietnam, Switzerland, Mexico, Germany, Brazil, and Japan.The Homestay Program run under Coast Mountains School District 82 invites international students for a full year or one semester .

Student testimonials underscore the program's profound impact. Caua Almeida, a Grade 10 student from Brazil described it as"the best experience of my life," while Kevin in grade 11, also from Brazil, felt warmly included in his host family's daily life. Despite initial language challenges, students have excelled academically and socially, earning praise from local educators.CMSD #82 stands out in the Northwest, with no similar programs in neighbouring school districts.

"We invite everyone to join us in welcoming students from around the world and fostering cultural exchange," Dominguez said.
