The uniform banks accepts clothing from Berryhill, St Thomas’s, Muirhouse, St Brendan’s, Wishaw Academy, St Ignatius, Netherton, Thornlie and Orchard Primary Schools as well as Our Lady’s, Clyde Valley and St Aidan’s High Schools.

It may be the summer holidays but for many families across Wishaw the struggle to snap up school uniforms for their kids has already started.

Louise Healy, the organisation’s project development worker, said: “We have had the uniform bank over the last 10 years and it has really made a difference.Get all the news from your area – as well as features, entertainment, sport and the latest on Lanarkshire’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic – straight to your fingertips, 24/7.

Craigneuk Lifelong Learning Association was established back in 1999 and has been a pillar of the community ever since. Louise added: “Because we have been going for such a long time people are used to coming to us so I would say that stigma is now gone.
