A study analyzing 2020 candidate Elizabeth Warren's student debt relief plan may reduce concerns about a windfall for the wealthiest Americans.

An independent analysis of Sen. Elizabeth Warren's student loan relief plan shows that it would likely help middle-income borrowers the most, a finding that may help to ease one of the political left's biggest concerns about debt forgiveness.

But the Massachusetts Democrat's proposal would erase student debt for more than 80% of the loan holders in each of the four lower-income groups assessed in the study. They would all see higher average forgiveness than the top earners. Warren announced her student debt relief plan on Monday, adding to a list of proposals she has put forward to dramatically reshape the U.S. economy. The senator, who has long called for policies to hold large corporations and the wealthiest Americans in check, has aimed to cast herself as one of the more populist voices in the Democratic primary.

Her campaign calls the student loan measure a progressive way to boost the economy and consumer spending, in large part because a tax on the wealthiest American families would fund the debt relief. The effect would be less pronounced for Hispanic borrowers. They would see about 10% of the total forgiven dollars and account for 11% of households.

Like most politicians they promise everything and make nothing happen for the people . . Any year - Any time JOBS are what counts - Trump is there for America

The middle class will be the ones to pay. When you make more than enough to qualify but not enough to be considered 'wealthy', you lose out no matter what, no matter where you choose to go to college & once again, it's the middle class paying to support the upper & lower incomes

Food should be free as well... lets not forget that 😉

The Things Elizabeth Warren Gets Wrong In Her College PlanSenator Elizabeth Warren's expansive college plan would wipe out most student debt and make public colleges tuition free. Although these two ideas have great appeal to many progressive, a closer look reveals major concerns and difficulties with both policies. 😔 Of the 42 million students, how many would really qualify for debt relief? My husband I got married early and did well, we wouldn't qualify and I imagine most young married couples wouldn't either. 'What if states decide not to “partner?” 'Would they be punished by the feds?' They could do what they want, no money from the Feds. Why look to the UK for free college? In the 60s, college costs in the USA were nominal. U. Cal. was under $1k.
