The state-of-the-art Auburn High School was built in 2017 and now, it’s almost at full capacity thanks to the fast-growing city. The school system says plans are being drawn up for a second high school.
The current high school holds a maximum of 2,200 students but Chesser says they are nearing that mark. “Auburn City Schools is the 16th largest school system in the state of Alabama and it’s actually the largest with only one high school in it,” he said.
