SAN ANTONIO — A 19-year-old New Braunfels man who authorities say lied while trying to buy weapons and was possibly planning an attack on a school was indicted by a grand jury last month.

The FBI found Peterson first tried to buy a 12-gauge shotgun in January but was turned away"because of his age and the type of firearm he was attempting to purchase," records say. He returned to the same New Braunfels pawn shop on May 31, where the FBI said he lied about his current address and marijuana use; he again wasn't able to buy the gun after his name came up on a background check for marijuana, which he told FBI agents on May 21 he smoked"on a daily basis.

He was arrested on June 5 and was ordered detained without bond a week later due to the danger he poses, as well as a prior criminal history and"history of violence or use of weapons."KENS 5 has brought numerous firsts to South Texas television, including being the first local station with a helicopter, the first with its own Doppler radar and the first to air a local morning news program.
