As high school graduates in the Class of 2024 prepare to embark on their college journeys this fall, a dive into Texas public university data shows the University of Texas at San Antonio has long been the most popular destination for Alamo City seniors. The Express-News acquired fall application, acceptance and enrollment data from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for 64 area high schools.
had the most applications from San Antonio high school students during the five-year period, more than 18,600. It accepted about 83% of them and about 48% of students who were accepted enrolled in the university. The state’s two flagship public universities – the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University — had the second- and third-highest application totals from area students. UT Austin received about 8,600 of them and Texas A&M, about 7,800.
