Olowoporoku was an ‘extra year’ Computer Science student who ought to have graduated two sessions ago but was delayed as a result of two outstanding courses.

It was gathered that the deceased, who served as the general secretary of his departmental association in 2016, swallowed a poisonous substance, which led to his death on Sunday. In 2017, a female student of the institution, Mercy Folaranmi, also took her life owing to poor performance in one of her courses.

Olowoporoku’s class representative, Ayo Oyewole, noted that his death came as a shock, adding that the department was yet to get full details of the incident. Asked if the deceased ever confided in him about his frustrations, a close friend who preferred anonymity, said: “He never showed it, but I could remember in Part Four, he told me that there’s pressure from home and that his parents don’t know what he is facing in school.

So unfortunate

Is very unfortunate, this is lack of comitting self to the will of God.

My son asked me why I want him to be top of his class,if all his mentors(Davido&Messi,Wizkid) are not even using education?that day I asked myself,'why all the hype on education sef?1st class are earning 100k while those with pass are making millions!

Hmmm at least no more carry over in the grave! I'm sure their lecturers are happy? If a student repeatedly fail a course can't you just give him ' let my people go'?

How sad. May we all cope through challenges

The Ife lecturers should take a lead from University of Ibadan where all out efforts are made to enrich the knowledge of their students instead of making joy out of failing students

Take your life is not the best. You can still make it than those you are looking at your front. Rest in peace to both of them.

There two sides to everything

The authority has to see to all these
