FILE - Bryan Kohberger, right, is escorted into a courtroom for a hearing in Latah County District Court, Sept. 13, 2023, in Moscow, Idaho. During a hearing held Thursday in Latah County, prosecutors and the defense agreed to a trial date in June 2025.
Judge John Judge set the hearing so important dates can be set to keep the process moving forward, one that will now see the accused killer going to trial nearly two and a half years after the alleged murders. Kohberger is accused of killing Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin in their off-campus home. Prosecutors have made it known they intend to seek the death penalty for Kohberger if he is convicted. Judge Judge also worked to get dates set for when important pieces of evidence need to be turned over to the defense.
Defense Attorney Anne Taylor has stated on numerous occasions that she does not believe Kohberger can get a fair trial in Latah County and will be putting forward a change of venue motion, though that was not heard at Thursday's hearing.
