The ousting of Antonian College Prep’s principal, Monica Ruiz-Mills, has roiled the school community. Some are asking for an elected board.

The ousting of Monica Ruiz-Mills as principal of Antonian College Preparatory High School has left school families frustrated and angry, not least because her replacement will be its fourth leader in as many years. The school community learned of her departure from Marti West, the Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of San Antonio, in a June 4 letter that said Ruiz-Mills “will not be returning.

Judson ISD board seeks candidates to replace District 5 trustee Ruiz-Mills provided a statement saying her contract had not been renewed and she was saddened that she won’t be back, but did not respond to a question on whether the archdiocese had provided her a reason. “Over the past year, we have made significant strides, and I am proud of the progress we have achieved together,” Ruiz-Mills wrote.
