The Merrillville School Board is holding a public hearing at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for feedback on a proposed three-year contract for the district’s next superintendent.

The contract details are posted on the district’s website, www.mvsc.k12.in.us.

The meeting will be held at the administration office just north of Merrillville High School on its campus. The new superintendent, expected to begin work Monday, succeeds Nick Brown who announced his retirement last October. Brown has headed the district since 2018. Friday is Brown’s last day. The proposed contract includes an annual salary of $187,000. If the school board provides teacher raises, the superintendent would receive the same percentage increase.

The board also agreed to pay the superintendent $9,000 in a lump sum for the business use of a personal automobile.Melania Trump won’t move back into the White House if Trump wins: reportCouncil members in Maryland town face continuing backlash following comments about LGBTQ+ community
