CEBU CITY – The mettle of the multi-titled University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers will be tested when they go up against some of the country’s top collegiate teams in the cash-rich Mayor Kirk Asis Open Invitational Basketball Tournament 2024 in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.

CEBU CITY – The mettle of the multi-titled University of the Visayas Green Lancers will be tested when they go up against some of the country’s top collegiate teams in the cash-rich Mayor Kirk Asis Open Invitational Basketball Tournament 2024 in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.

The three-day tournament, which will start on Thursday, June 27, will see the Bustamante Construction-backed UV take on the Arianos Construction/Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, ARQ Builders/Adamson University Soaring Falcons, Vincare Pharma/Perpetual Altas, and Wengburs Apartelle and Ella Store/San Beda Red Lions.

“We'll just play our game. If I remember it right, we made it to the finals in every year that we participated in the tournament. I think we won the championship twice and we also had two runner-up finishes,” said Cortes, who steered UV to its 15th title in the 2023 season of the Cebu Schools Athletic Federation Inc. last December.

According to chief organizer Van Halen Parmis, the tournament will follow a single-round robin format in the eliminations with the top two teams moving to the championship round. The No. 3 and 4 squads will play for third place.
