Pupils could be getting a new teaching block as plans to replace a temporary structure in “poor condition”.
Sarratt C of E Primary School, in The Green, is seeking Three Rivers District Council’s permission to knock down a demountable block with two classrooms, as well as its caretakers building which also contains a music room. It would then build a new single-storey block with two larger classrooms, a therapy/music room, and a caretaker's area inside it.According to planning documents, which appeared on the planning portal today, the existing building “is at the end of its life and will need to be replaced under a CIF funding scheme from the DfE which has been preliminarily approved subject to obtaining planning approval.
“The existing school buildings on site do not reflect the character and aesthetics of the conservation area that they are located in,” the applicant added. At its last Ofsted inspection, last year, the school had 161 pupils aged four to 11 on its roll and was found to be ‘good’.We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues.
