Grand Prairie schools will be led by Jorge L. Arredondo, a longtime Texas educator.

“This is a proud day for the Grand Prairie ISD,” trustee president Amber Moffitt said in a statement. “We are confident that Dr. Arredondo will continue the long legacy of great leadership in GPISD.”Arredondo will take over the roughly 27,000-student district from retiring superintendent Linda Ellis. He’ll face ongoing efforts to boost students’ academics after pandemic disruptions, budget challenges facing public schools and political battles out of Austin.
