Struggling parents will soon receive supermarket vouchers to help with the cost of living. These vouchers – which can be spent at all major supermarkets – come as part of the DWP's Household Support Fund .
The councils are offering supermarket vouchers worth up to £120, which can be spent at Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and more. In addition to the £75 support, food vouchers will also be made available for free school meals parents during the school holidays, starting at £15 per week, per child. Hertfordshire council explained: 'Schools will contact parents and carers who are already in receipt of free school meals directly.'
These are issued weekly to those eligible during school holidays. These will be sent as a lump sum, for example, £75 to cover the summer holidays.The council explained: 'Prior to the school holidays, eligible parents/carers will receive a text or email inviting them to choose a supermarket for the voucher.'
What is the Household Support Fund? The Household Support Fund is a DWP scheme that has been around since since 2021.
