A notice was posted to the university’s website Friday morning, warning people that the main campus in the Lynnmour area as well as the Lonsdale campuses were closed, due to a “targeted, specific security threat” at the North Vancouver institution.
School administration became aware that a student at the university had been threatened with violence by another student on Thursday, CapU president Paul Dangerfield said in an email statement.“To ensure the safety and security of our entire campus community, we decided to close both the Lonsdale and Main campuses in North Vancouver for the day of the threat,” Dangerfield said.
“Violence, intimidation and bullying is unacceptable at Capilano University. Appropriate authorities, including the police of jurisdiction, were notified and are following up as required to ensure the continued safety of the CapU community,” he said. Dangerfield said he didn’t have reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to the safety and security of students, and that campuses were expected to reopen on Saturday.More to come …
