Sen. Elizabeth Warren rolled out yet another ambitious policy proposal Monday morning as she called for canceling approximately $640 billion in outstanding student loan debt.
The plan would eliminate up to $50,000 in student loan debt for each person with less than $100,000 in household income. The $50,000 in relief would gradually diminish for people with household incomes between $100,000 and $250,000 . People with household incomes over $250,000 would not receive debt cancellation.Sign Up
Warren couples the student debt forgiveness with a proposal to eliminate tuition and fees at all two-year and four-year public colleges. She presents the proposals as working in tandem: First, eliminate much of the student loan debt and then restructure the system to ensure that such debt doesn’t accumulate again.
Nobody force them to sign those papers promising that they would pay.

I'm sure glad I chose a more affordable college and took out minimal loans, and busted my ass saving to pay what I owed only to see everybody else get their loans forgiven after they went to a school they couldn't afford on loans they couldn't repay. Seems fair.

All for tuition free colleges. Can we cancel people's medical debt ewarren ? This is a very real reason why people struggle to pay bills, buy a home etc.

This is not a feasible proposal. You can not tax your way to free everything. Refinancing, working with collages and universities to bring down the staggering cost of higher education has a greater chance of success.
