Gov. Jeff Landry signed a new law Wednesday ensuring all families will have access to education savings accounts.

Louisiana joined the growing list of U.S. states adopting universal school choice Wednesday by approving the implementation of education savings accounts.on the Louisiana Giving All True Opportunity to Rise program Wednesday. The legislation allows K-12 education savings accounts to be gradually phased in to the state beginning in 2025, with families making less than 250% of the federal poverty level qualifying first. All families will be eligible by the third phase.

The LA Gator Program puts parents in the driver’s seat and gives every child the opportunity for a great education," the governor said. "When parents are committed to the value of their child’s education, government should never get in the way."
