Another round of layoffs have been announced at the University of Texas at Austin-- this time, affecting the communications department.
Weeks after that, pro-Palestine protests on campus dominated headlines and led to the arrests of dozens of students. "To act like we can just be tossed aside is is very demoralizing for everybody there," said Lewis who is also a UT Austin employee and alumni. "We'll just get rid of something that's so crucial to the life of the university, and saying that, 'Oh, a private firm can do it better with no experience, no relationships, with none of the work that's gone in over years," added Lewis.
