Pro-Palestine student protesters camped at Sydney University have agreed to leave their front lawn encampment.Pro-Palestine student protesters camped at the University of Sydney have confirmed they will leave after being ordered to vacate last week.
"For weeks the camp has been issued cease and desist letters, two students have been suspended, security has removed tents, and prevented the Palestine Action Group protest from entering university grounds on Sunday," it said.In an email to staff, Vice-Chancellor Mark Scott said he met with representatives of the protest "with the aim of achieving a peaceful resolution" before ordering them from the front lawns.
Organisers have accused the university of taking a "repressive approach" to the encampment, including "unjust disciplinary cases against multiple activists and groups involved in the encampment." The protesters are among a large number of students across Australia who set up encampments at various universities, joining students at campuses in the United States.
