The school-board members who agreed with her claimed it was "teaching rebellion of school-board authority". Pippin's outcry prompted the school board to vote on the banning of the book. The motion passed with a vote from 3-2, despite the district's book review committee previously giving the book the greenlight.
Pippin has another connection to banned books. The Moms for Liberty is a far-right political organization that is responsible for many book bans . Pippin just so happens to be the chair for“They banned the book because it talks about the books that they have banned and because it talks about book banning,” the book's author, Alan Gratz, said.
