Her storage room is now the hub for cans of soups, milk, chips, macaroni, and cheese greeting you at the door. It’s all a part of Backpack Buddies.
Backpack Buddies is scheduled to only run throughout the school year. Realizing the persistent needs, Women of Faith are dedicated to keeping those hot meals on the tables even during the summer months. “It’s to drop a bag of food who participate and it’s to drop right down in their backpacks. They come to the office and just use it for the weekend.”
That connection led to Matthew Bounds, a Gulf Coast social media creator also known as @yourbarefootneighbor who could help push the message along.Through his platform on TikTok, Bounds encourages his three million followers to help community partners and lend a helping hand.
