Teachers at Garfield Heights schools say the fights and violence there have gotten so out of control, they’re afraid to show up to work. One teacher says after being constantly tormented ― and even assaulted by students ― she’s leaving the district. She’s not alone.

“This is like nothing I’ve ever experienced, it is awful, awful,” said one teacher who wants to remain anonymous. They submitted data showing the numbers of teachers and staff who reported being injured during student fights. Judy says these issues have been brought to the attention of the Superintendent numerous times, but little has been done to address them.
