Improving campus security became a focal point for school officials after January's shooting at LeFlore High School. A 16-year-old female student is accused of shooting two male students, who both survived. The superintendent promised to enhance security and has been reviewing different technologies that could be implemented this upcoming school year. But time is ticking to get a plan in place in time before opening bell.

"There's a lot of different options out there on the table. That's just one of them. You have to make sure that you do your due diligence, trust but verify," said school board member Johnny Hatcher. Security wasn't on the agenda at Wednesday's special called board meeting, which dealt mainly with personnel issues, but afterward Stringfellow said while they want a multi-layered plan in place for the upcoming school year, they need to ensure it's a plan that will work. After the meeting, the superintendent indicated a plan could be released very soon. The first day of school is August 7th.
