Officials: South Carolina school girl died of natural causes

Ashley Wright speaks to reporters Friday, April 19, 2019, in Walterboro, S.C., about her daughter, 10-year-old Raniya Wright, who died two days after a fight in her 5th grade classroom. Authorities say an autopsy found the girl died of natural causes after blood vessels affected by a birth defect ruptured in her brain. The girl’s family says the school fight was more serious than authorities have portrayed it and they still have unanswered questions.

Solicitor Duffie Stone said at a press conference that 10-year-old Raniya Wright died of a congenital condition called an arteriovenous malformation, a tangle of abnormal blood vessels in the brain. Stone said that pathological and other scientific reports showed no evidence of trauma to the body that would have indicated the child died of injuries sustained in a fight on March 25 at Forest Hills Elementary School in Walterboro. Raniya died two days later.Sheriff R.A. Strickland said the fight lasted only a few seconds before the teacher broke it up.

Maj. Jason Chapman, one of the lead investigators on the case, said that account of the fight was based on interviews with the teacher as well as 15 students who witnessed it.

How convenient

Load of crap. The AFM put the girl at increased risk of bleeding in the head. The trauma and stress of the altercation most likely increased the likelihood of the girls AFM to rupture and bleed and that’s why 10 min after she said her head started hurting.

convenient, still this is a tragedy. If the diagnoses is true then I wonder if the head trauma from the fight/stress could have cause the vessels to burst/break, leading to her untimely death.

Since the child had another headache after the incident, threw up and taken by parametric to the hospital, and with the child's history of headaches for the last 2 years, I sure hope the hospital did a scan of her brain. It's sad to think her condition wasn't diagnosed.
