Irish athletics star Rhasidat Adeleke has secured a silver medal and set a new Irish record in the final of the 400m at the European Athletic Championships in Rome.

Her fifth and sixth class teacher, Maeve Cashin, told RTÉ Radio One’s Morning Ireland that she was always passionate about sport.
"We are so incredibly proud of Rhasidat and we knew when she left here 10 years ago that we wouldn't see the last of her. In the years that followed her schooling, she was winning nationally and internationally, and was the first Irish woman to break the 50-second barrier in the 400 metres - and has broken plenty more records in her career.View gallery She is a huge name in Irish sport, even appearing on this year's English Leaving Cert.
