Fake nude images of at least 50 girls at Bacchus Marsh Grammar school have been shared online, with Victoria Police now investigating who created and published them.

Fifty girls at a regional Victorian private school have had fake nude images of them created by AI and shared on social media.

Acting principal Kevin Richardson said the school had been informed by girls’ parents of the mass creation of fake nude images of their daughters, and the reports had been passed on to police. Richardson said the school did not know yet if the images featuring the faces of a “large number of students” on AI-generated bodies had been created by students at the school, or if someone outside it had made them.“It may well be students,” he said, and students targeted were experiencing “a range of emotions”.
