A bill introduced by Rep. Aaron Bean, R-Fla., last week aims to expose "foreign influence" in U.S. public school classrooms.is titled the Transparency in Reporting of Adversarial Contributions to Education Act. The bill would require any public school which receives federal funding to provide parents with copies of curriculum materials obtained using funds from a foreign government.
Teachers who receive portions of their salaries through foreign governments must also make themselves known to parents, the bill says. Additionally, schools would be required to inform families of any donations received from foreign entities. The House Committee on Education and the Workforce is set to review the legislation. The effort is the latest by lawmakers concerned over foreign influence in schools.
