Arnot St Mary first reported the issue back in 2021

Arnot St Mary Primary School in Walton reported concerns to Liverpool Council in 2021 regarding water getting into the building. Such was the level of the leaks, internal decorations began to deteriorate.

According to a delegated decision report, the grade II listed site on Arnot Street became the subject of consultation with Liverpool Council early last year. This followed the city council instructing Kier Design and Business Services to complete a feasibility report to outline the works required to address the water ingress issues being experienced.

The report, outlining the decision taken on May 28, said: “As the design progressed and the details for the tender specification were finalised, it became apparent that the lead in time for the terracotta copping stones needed to replace those damaged was significant and would prevent the works being completed in the 2023 summer break as originally planned.
