People have been left gobsmacked after learning what paprika is actually made from - and what dishes the red spice should be used in to add extra flavour

It's a commonly used cooking spice - but some people are only just learning what paprika is actually made from. Described as having a "very subtle and sweet spiciness", the red spice is usually added to pork, chicken, and beef stew - but you can put it in any meal you wish to add extra flavour.

A statement from BBC Good Food reads: "Paprika is a spice made from dried sweet peppers ground to a fine powder. A spice that's central to Hungarian cuisine, paprika is made by drying a particular type of sweet pepper, then grinding them to a fine, rich red powder."
