IN A historic feat, Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) has become the first and only Malaysian university to receive accreditation from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) in the UK.

SEREMBAN: While many tend to choose jobs, these three disabled people are willing to sunbathe in the heat and among the garbage every day to earn a living.

In an interview with Sinar Harian, Mohd Hasif Abd Rani, 37, who suffers from hearing problems, said that not everyone can work in the public cleaning field which is exposed to various risks, especially weather conditions. Mohd Hasif said, what makes him proud is when he can be independent without expecting his parents and siblings to help him with daily living.For Mohd Aszmizan Mohd Hasan, 34, although he is eligible to receive assistance from the Social Welfare Department, his parents taught him to work hard and not rely solely on any government assistance.

"My parents taught me to learn to live independently from a young age," said Mohd Aszmizan, who also has hearing problems and difficulty in speaking.Meanwhile, another hearing-impaired worker, Mohd Rossazali Roslan, 42, said he was proud of his achievements because he was able to earn an income.
