The Preppers were in control for the majority of Wednesday's Division II state lacrosse semifinal, but a late rally sent the Titans to the state title instead.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The score tied at five apiece heading into the final quarter of Wednesday’s Division II state lacrosse semifinal between University School and Toledo St. John’s Jesuit.

Instead, Titans sophomore midfielder Owen Strayer scored back-to-back goals in the first four minutes of the stanza to put the Titans up 7-5. After dishing three assists on the night senior Quinn Wiklendt put none more goal for good measure as the Titans bounced the peppers from the postseason. The beginning of the game was postponed due to weather, but it didn’t take very long for University School to strike first and take command early on once play finally started. It took the Preppers less than two minutes to score their first goal.

University School opened the second quarter scoring with a goal at the 8:22 mark, but the Titans maintained the lead with a response a couple of minutes later. The Preppers managed to find the back of the net two more times before the half came and they look a 4-3 edge into the break.
