Board Of Education,Brandon Simmons,Attorney-Client Privilege

In a rare move, the board of education for Columbus City Schools voted to waive attorney client privilege

Columbus City Schools Board Member Brandon Simmons being censured by the rest of the board on May 29, 2024.

The document "Taking Control of the Task Force Narrative" sparked outrage from union and community members. In it were plans to handle opposition to a task force's proposal to close school buildings."At our last meeting, the Board censured Mr. Simmons. And I have taken him off all Board committees.

I have made the important and necessary decision not to discuss this matter further until I have received guidance from my legal counsel on the best way to move forward.Additionally, I am greatly concerned that the decision the Board made today violated Ohio's Open Meeting Law. My colleagues frequently and regularly improperly use the executive session mechanism to make decisions in private before returning to the public Board table.
