However, if you were in Austin in May 2024, you may have noticed the above-average warmth and humidity, more than the rain.There were only seven days with below-normal high temperatures throughout the month. The last full week of May was especially warm, ahead of Memorial Day when we received our first Excessive Heat Warning of the year.
At the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, May 2022 still holds the crown for the warmest May on record, but 2024 tied May 1956 for second place. Meanwhile, Camp Mabry, our other major weather station, recorded its sixth warmest May ever.While temperatures were mostly above-normal, precipitation totals can be categorized closer to the near-normal threshold. The average rainfall for both weather stations is about 5 inches.
June is predicted to be another above-normal month in regards to temperatures, while Central Texas has equal chances of above or below-normal precipitation.Credit: KVUE
