Jon Bon Jovi has previously spoken about the 'terrible, tragic lesson of life' that his daughter Stephanie has learned, after overdosing on heroin during her university days

Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi was shaken awake at 2am by a phone call that every parent fears. It was 2012 and his daughter Stephanie, then a teenager, was on the line from the hospital.

Stephanie, who is now 30 years old, was treated in hospital and subsequently, charges against her and a friend, Ian Grant, aged 21, were dropped under a local law that prevents prosecution of those who have experienced drug overdoses. He said to the Mirror: "We went through something that a lot of parents do, many more than I thought. Many more people who have been in my life that I had no idea they had been through it with their own children at one point or another."

He went on to say that the incident was a "terrible tragic lesson of life" but that he "thanks God every day because she is whole".
