Ensuring that academic achievement is the centerpiece of every classroom in America is simply imperative.
According to Haidt, from 2004 to 2020, the percentage of American teenagers who suffered at least one major depressive episode in the most recent year increased by 145% for girls and 161% for boys, according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. From 2004 to 2020, the incidents of emergency room visits due to self-harm among individuals ages 10 to 14 rose 188% for girls and from 2010 to 2020, incidents increased 48% among boys, reports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
