The man was 'safely detained' and is now being given the 'appropriate support'

Police descended on a street in Manchester on Thursday afternoon amid reports of a 'naked' man near a school.

Emergency services attended a concern for welfare call on Queens Road, beside Queens Park in Monsall. Pictures from the scene showed a number of police vehicles and ambulances in attendance. The man was later 'safely detained' and is receiving 'support and treatment', Greater Manchester Police said. It followed reports that the man was walking the streets in the nude.Emergency services had first been called out at around 2pm before the man, whose age is not known, was detained. The sizeable response was thought to be, in part, due to the proximity to the Manchester Communication Academy.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We received reports regarding the concern for the welfare of a man at around 2pm today on Queens Road near Monsall. He has been safely detained and is receiving the appropriate support and treatment. There is no wider threat to the public.
