The political correspondent had to undergo surgery and chemotherapy after learning he had testicular cancer - his scans are now clear but he will continue to be monitored

Newstalk presenter Sean Defoe has opened up about being diagnosed with and receiving treatment for testicular cancer.

Read more: Radio star Adrian Kennedy reveals months-long cancer battle after having prostate surgery "I was putting off getting it checked until one day when I was out walking the dog," Sean told Pat Kenny on his Newstalk show. "He suddenly pulled very sharply to the left and clipped me. The pain was extraordinary and I couldn't ignore it any longer."

The next step was surgery to remove one of his testicles. The radio presenter then had a scan to check if the cancer had spread further, and a couple of days later learned it had spread to his abdomen.
