Ya so to everyone saying “use common sense” who the hell do you think you are. On behalf of the Fordham community you’re a terrible person.
This time of climb seems more like suicidal behavior than a 'right of passage '..
Why would anyone be foolhardy enough to climb it anyway?

She was a gorgeous girl. I think of the things my friends and I did in college, my husband included, that could have ended as disastrously. Bless her family.
Where was security? Home school yourselves on the computer. It might take a little longer, but you’ll be safe with no college bills to carry for years after.

Everything is fun until it isn't. People do stunts like this for social media. Just bc some students got away with it in the past doesn't make it safe. This is just a lack of common sense and I feel most bad for her family who undoubtedly are destroyed bc of this selfish act.

Sydney Monfries, 22, fell through an opening in a stairway landing at Keating Hall and plummeted down the inside of the clock and bell tower, according to the NYC Police. The fall was about 30 feet, school officials said. Monfries was found critically injured and later died.
My sincere condolences to her family and friends. We had such a rite of passage at my college. Also involving climbing up into a bell tower an a “locked” building. Dozens of ways to get around that. So nothing but love and understanding for Miss Monfries.

The comments are really insensitive. They also seem to prove people didn't read the article. The students didn't 'climb' up a wall; they climbed a spiral staircase.
I fell 12 feet, landed on my mid back, on a hard surface.... very similar to her fall....but I was working and got lucky and stuck the landing.
For God sake, young people look out for one another. This is such a loss.
