CCA takes far more money than it needs from more successful schools to run a less successful school.

Published: May. 25, 2024, 8:33 a.m.Since Commonwealth Charter Academy’s Board President mentioned me by name in his April 29 letter, I must respond.

Nor is CCA a bargain academically. CCA’s 6-year cohort graduation rate, 68%, is far worse than the state average, 91%, and even worse than Philadelphia’s for every demographic – male, female, Black, white, Hispanic, Asian, special needs and low-income students. Its students’ achievement also falls significantly below the state average in reading, math, science, algebra 1, biology, and English literature – every subject covered in state tests.
