Much-loved Glasgow University professor dies as colleagues left devastated

Greg Philo, researcher at Glasgow Media Group, died earlier this week, with uni bosses sharing their heartache following the devastating news. Loved ones, including former pupils, took to social media to share their memories.

University of Glasgow Principal, Prof Sir Anton Muscatelli said: "Greg was a driving force of the Media Group for many years and a very popular colleague and teacher. Catherine Happer wrote: "Yesterday morning I heard that my long time mentor, colleague and dear friend, Greg Philo, passed away and I’m still reeling from the shock and sadness. It’s difficult to articulate the importance of Greg in my life. I simply wouldn’t be doing what I'm doing were it not for him.
