Police have launched an investigation after a schoolboy was dragged to the ground and assaulted while walking home. Greater Manchester Police says the pupil was leaving Holy Family RC and CE College, in Heywood, at around 3pm yesterday .

As he was walking, a suspect dragged the boy to the ground before assaulting him. The victim suffered injuries as a result of the incident, GMP says. A video of the assault has been circulated on social media. GMP is urging anyone who saw the attack to come forward.PC Worden, of GMPs Rochdale district, said: “We are aware of an incident outside a Holy Family College, that has been filmed and circulated online and officers are currently carrying out enquiries to identify those responsible.

"This unprovoked and callous attack has had a significant impact on the victim and their family and we will be liaising closely with the school and partner agencies to progress the investigation."
