A hero tradie says he smashed windows to help get children out of a crashed school bus north of Melbourne. The tradie was one of the first people on site when the bus, with 32 students from Assumption College, Kilmore on board, veered off Wandong Rd and crashed into a tree at 3.30pm on Wednesday.
Hero tradie speaks about helping kids out of Victorian bus crash. The bus driver, a 65-year-old man from Wallan, died at the scene. One child was taken to Kilmore Hospital in a stable condition with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and other students were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Tradesman Colby Bartels told Sunrise he was driving home from work when he saw the bus veer off the road. “I pulled over as quick as I could and I looked at what was going on,” he said.
