Universities are producing graduates who adapt to the workforce easily, but fewer than half of all employers and grads say their qualification is important to their job, a survey has found.
Interestingly, half of all employers said graduates came equipped with the necessary job-specific skills and knowledge, while just 30 per cent said they arrived with the necessary technical and professional skills.Bec Ellinson’s learning experience during her five-year double degree in engineering and science was both on-campus and online.
“It was quite a shift, but I was well set up because I had networks already established,” Ms Ellinson said. “I relied a lot on collaboration with friends to understand concepts. It was harder to engage with tutors and lecturers, so we relied on each other.”
