Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Despite every Fallout game being set in the same world on the same timeline, the developers have managed to make each protagonist feel unique. Fallout first launched only on PC in October 1997, and the game was an instant hit, being praised as one of the most immersive RPGs ever.

5 The Chosen One Is A Direct Descendant Of The Vault Dweller Fallout 2 Close Roughly one year after the release of the original Fallout game was the hit sequel, Fallout 2. The second installment introduces a new protagonist, the Chosen One, who is directly related to the Vault Dweller from Fallout 1. However, just because the two are related doesn't mean their stories are at all similar, as the Chosen One had a much different upbringing than the protagonist to precede them.

The Chosen One had such an influence on Marcus that they inspired him to found the city of Jacobstown, which he would later go on to become the Mayor of. While the Chosen One from Fallout 2 will always be an iconic character, they failed to reach the highs of the original Vault Dweller and other characters. There's plenty to appreciate about each Fallout protagonist, but the Chosen One is the weakest leading character in the franchise.

3 The Vault Dweller Is The Series' Original Protagonist Fallout Close The name "Vault Dweller" has taken on much more meaning than just being the name of the main protagonist in the first Fallout game. Vault dwellers are considered to be a group such as Ghouls or Super Mutants by the people of the Commonwealth, the Mojave Wasteland, and other iconic Fallout areas.

The Vault Dweller paved the way for a new era of RPG protagonists. While the Arroyo villagers assume the Vault Dweller died, others insist they were either taken by the sky spirits, or left abruptly to allow a new generation of leaders to take control of Arroyo. Either way, their legacy lives on as a truly great Fallout protagonist, and one of the biggest heroes to ever inhabit the wasteland after the bombs dropped.

1 The Courier Scoured The Mojave Wasteland Fallout: New Vegas Close While not the most critically acclaimed Fallout game, New Vegas has a passionate fan base who are eager to see the game adapted into live-action after the end of Prime Video's Fallout series. The Courier's history extends long before the beginning of Fallout: New Vegas, where they traveled on long and dangerous journeys delivering packages for clients.
