A primary school is to give pupils Friday afternoons off as they say that children "lack focus" by the end of the week.

Nothing to do with savage cuts making them unaffordable then DT?

“School has” or “schools have”.

Wonder which lazy teacher came up with this idea? Isn’t it the schools job to motivate these children rather than give em all the day off because they lack focus? Good life skills being taught, just take every Friday off work because you “lack focus”

After that why not Friday mornings and then Thursday afternoons....

Where will they go if parents are working?

The day is irrelevant. The same phenomenon happens in the workplace when approaching time off.

As results of these progressive schools sink ever lower...

That's it - reward them for lack of focus lol

Isn’t it the case that you just use that time to do sport; art; get creative with science. Plenty to teach beyond the books in that time-frame.

But then Thursday becomes the new Friday ad infinitum until all days are useless.

So then, we can start treating Thursday as pointless......

So teaching them it's alright to lack focus on Friday is not just an excuse for teachers who are contacted already to work just 190 days a year already, is OK. What happens when they go out to work, it's alright to not work Friday afternoon.

Lots of social & family issues associated with such a decision.
