A former pope has blamed sex abuse by Catholic clergy on the effects of the sexual revolution of the ‘60s.
The German-born Benedict, who for 23 years headed the Vatican doctrinal office that has been widely criticized for its handling of sex-abuse cases, argues that the sexual revolution led some to believe that pedophilia and pornography were acceptable. The former pope said that the spread of explicit sex education for schoolchildren and nudity in advertising had contributed to a loosening of moral bearings. He bemoaned how some seminaries had an openly gay culture and thus failed to train priests properly.
Societal degeneracy leads to degenerate acts. That doesn't absolve the Catholic Church of responsibility however

Both the Catholic church and the evangelical sect of protestants do not allow women as leaders in their churches. Any church which does not allow women to be spiritual leaders is way outdated and should be forced to change its rules or become extinct.
i think the catholic church should cease to exist..phase itself out. it is not natural for men to pretend they are celibate. obviously the men attracted to this lifestyle are often pedophiles. this institution cannot be trusted.

Really?! When Martin Luther visited The Vatican in 1510, he found in Rome a lack of spirituality at the very heart of Western Christendom. The pope was even peddling TICKETS to Heaven to sustain his expensive lifestyle. Religious fraud goes a long way back.
