Rebecca Joynes, 30, has been standing trial at Manchester Crown Court accused of four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and two counts of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust. Following the two-week trial, jurors convicted her of all six counts after retiring on Thursday.
Prosecutors said that the relationship later turned sexual. She became pregnant and later went on to have his baby, despite Ms Joynes allegedly telling him it was ‘almost impossible’ for her to conceive due to a health issue. He learned she was pregnant ‘to his great shock’ after she gave him a baby grow, the court heard.
Joynes was accused by prosecutor Joe Allman of a “naked attempt to garner sympathy” from the jury by having a pink baby’s bonnet visibly tucked into her trouser front belonging to the child fathered by boy B, whose virginity she allegedly took. The court heard she only has access to the child three times a week.
