Protests over teacher and principal cuts and calls for federal investigations are growing after a report alleging Miles sent Texas tax dollars to his Colorado charter schools.

This week’s Insider Deals are so good you’ll want all of them– Houston ISD Superintendent Mike Miles is giving an updated overview of the budget at 4 p.m. Thursday and answering questions .Answers to any questions could give us more insight into Miles’ state of mind as the state-appointed leader sits steeped in controversy on two fronts.Protests have picked up momentum over the last week by parents, teachers and students angry with the growing number of teachers and principals losing their jobs.

Miles said last week that wouldn’t be a problem and the focus is on finding educators with the right mindset for continued improvement. Miles has vehemently denied he did anything wrong and called the report “irresponsibly inaccurate” and accused the reporter, who covered Miles when he ran Dallas ISD, of working to undermine progress he made there.

Miles explained that the Texas and Colorado charter schools have a centralized office in Colorado that handles administrative oversight and there was nothing amiss, financially.
