Here is where former BYU quarterback Jacob Conover is headed.

Quarterback Jacob Conover runs a play during a scrimmage, on day 1 of BYU football Fall Camp, on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022.But after a year away, Conover is coming back to the Beehive State.

Conover, a former four-star recruit, announced this week that he has committed to play for the Utah State Aggies. He spent 2023 with Arizona State, where he appeared in only three games and tallied 130 passing yards. Conover has relatively little experience compared to Barnes and Petras, so he will have to compete hard for the Aggies’ quarterback job. He spent several years as the backup to now-NFL QBs Zach Wilson and Jaren Hall, played in only five games and threw just 11 passes. He never recorded a start as a Cougar.

Quarterback McCae Hillstead left USU and committed to BYU last month, while last year’s starter to open the season, Cooper Legas, has transferred to Tulsa.Former Utah State Aggie reportedly becomes highest-paid college basketball playerIf county Mayor Jenny Wilson has her way, Abravanel Hall will stay put in SLC sports district
