Kogi: 14 abducted students of Confluence University rescued

The armed hoodlums had invaded the CUSTECH Osara, shooting sporadically before abducting the students. A statement issued on Monday and made available to DAILY POST by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, SP William Ovye, said 14 of the victims had been rescued from a bush. He said that operatives of the command have also launched a manhunt for the remaining missing students.

He stated that the rescue operation was carried out by tactical teams from the command, comprising operatives of the Police Mobile Force and Counter Terrorism Unit, along with men of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lokoja, officers of the Department of State Services, hunters and local vigilantes. According to him, the combined team rescued the victims after a gun duel with the abductors, who, after being overpowered by the team, fled and abandoned some of the victims.
